The Research:

In 2010, a peer-reviewed journal article written by university professors & researchers -Rudra Bhandari, Balkrishna Acharya, and V.K. Katiyar discussed the adoption and implications of Corporate Yoga. They highlight how “large corporations including fortune 500 companies, the NYC Police Department, and more,  have incorporated yoga to fulfill health criteria of performance excellence.” (Bhandari, Acharya, & Katiyar, 2010)

As a Yoga Studio, through experience and teachings we know that yoga and meditation has the power to reduce stress and improve our focus.  This has been researched and backed up in literary work, but did you know that the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts has also found that “yoga in conjunction with meditation can indeed lower stress and improve work performance.” (Bhandari, et. al, 2010) 

It is no question that stress can cause numerous health concerns and cause the body to not function to the capacity that we would like. In a corporate environment this is crucial to the functionality of a team. Skills such as critical thinking, time management, and team communication as well as the overall work environment suffer as a result of unmanaged stress.
